Nowadays having a presence on social networks is very important. Having a good communication strategy and an excellent presence means potential to increase the sales audience. It also creates potential to provide better service, outperform competitors, and become the first choice of customers.

Through social media networks we can advertise ourselves and be known by the general public. The number of users of social networks increases every year and there are currently over 3.2 billion SNS users; Facebook is in the lead with 2.3 billion users with an increase of 37 million new users in 2018. It is followed by YouTube with almost 2 billion users and Instagram has just reached their goal of one billion active accounts.

To not be present means to not exist. Six years ago, the number of advertisers on Facebook were about 3 million users. It grew to 5 million in 2017 and over 6 million in 2018. Although the competition is high, not being present would mean not being competitive and being out of the market.

Social networks influence people’s lives and choices that they make. The world average time spent on social media is 2 hours and 24 minutes (in Japan, the average is only 36 minutes) so as much as a product can be interesting and valuable, if it is not on social networks, it is as if it does not exist because nobody knows about it.

The presence on social networks combined with a good communication strategy helps spread the brand; the more famous and known a brand is, the more clients are willing to pay.

By increasing the perception of the value of a product, we will have a greater number of people willing to pay more for that product, thus increasing the profit. In order to reach people, a good presence on social networks is a MUST.

Innovation

Following trends and always being relevant gives the impression of being a leader in our sector. Not being on social media or not knowing the latest market trends gives the impression of being an outdated company that is not customer-oriented. This generates a negative perception of the company’s product.

Customer Relationship

Maintaining a customer is less expensive than acquiring a new one. Through social media, we have the opportunity to interact with customers, collect and listen to their feedback, and maintain constructive communication with them to generate mutual trust. Paying attention to the customer makes them feel special, listened to and understood; this increases the positive sentiment towards the brand. Listening to and analyzing customer feedback can also give important insight on the direction to take, the development of new products and ideas, and customer preferences and needs.

The presence on social networks is fundamental because it allows us to promote not only our product, but also our mission and values which reach people who have similar values. This creates a higher percentage of potential customers compared to a traditional promotion strategy that is affected due to an audience that is not fully targeted.
